Cornwall police make arrest in string of historical sexual assaults

CORNWALL, Ontario

8/17/2012

A 45-year-old man is facing numerous charges for allegedly sexually abusing three children in Cornwall in the last three decades. The investigation by the Cornwall Police Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit started in January. The man's step-daughter reported to police she had been allegedly sexually assaulted by her step-father between 2002 and 2006. She was between eight and 11 years of age at the time. The investigation also uncovered other victims. Police say when the man was babysitting a boy between 1981 and 1983 he allegedly sexually assualted the boy who was between five and seven years old at the time. It's also alleged that sometime in 1985, the man sexually assualted his then seven year old brother. The Belleville man was arrested yesterday and faces over 10 charges including six counts of sexual assault and four counts of sexual interference. He will appear in Cornwall court today. His name was not released as it would identify the victims.

This guy needs to off the street permanently, no parole, no soft sentence. It's time that the Canadian court system and the judges protect our most vulnerable (the children).
