Respected Cornwall Police officer passes away

CORNWALL, Ontario

Cornwall Police has lost one of its prestigious officers. Inspector Dan O'Reilly passed away on Wednesday morning of a serious illness at the age of 51. O'Reilly worked his way up the police force starting out as a dispatched before becoming an officer. In 2009, he was promoted to inspector. O'Reilly gained respect over his 30 years in the service and the force says it's like losing a treasured family member. He is described as a dedicated officer and family man. He leaves behind a wife and two sons. Visitation has been set for Monday at John Sullivan Funeral Home on Pitt Street, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Or, Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. His funeral is on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Church on Second Street West.

    My deepest sympathy to the family in their time of sorrow, he is now looking down upon all of the family and colleagues. He will be sadly missed and will not suffer any longer, may GOD be with you all.....
