Regional Arts Council members to be elected this weekend

An arts council in our region could be reality sooner than you think. Board members for the new council will be elected tomorrow at the Arts and Culture Summit in Cornwall. Over 100 people from the arts and culture sector will be at the Aultsville Theatre to hammer out a plan for the council for Cornwall, Akwesasne, and SD&G.
The establishment of an Arts Council was one of the key recommendations of Culturescape, an extensive document that has a list of recommendation of developing culture in the Cornwall region. The plan was funded by the Ontario Ministry of Tourism and Culture (Creative Community Prosperity Fund), the City of Cornwall, the SD&G Community Futures Development Corporation and the Eastern Ontario Training Board.
