Public meeting in North Dundas will explain supply management

CORNWALL, Ontario

8/28/2012

A town hall meeting in North Dundas next month could give you the inside track on Canada's business sector. The Stormont, Dundas and South Glengarry Federal Liberal Association is hosting the public meeting entitled "Understanding Supply Management - A Canadian Success Story" on September 26th at the Chesterville Legion from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The association hopes to show the benefits of Canada's supply management system, which they say has brought quality products, stability, and sustainability to the agricultural sector for over 40 years. But the association adds there is growing pressure on the system as a result of current and proposed international trade negotiations such as the Trans Pacific Partnership.

Guest speakers at the event include Ron Versteeg, board member of the Dairy Farmers of Ontario and Liberal MP for Malpeque, P.E.I. Wayne Easter. The association is also reaching out to other party members to participate.
