"Hog Town" is the last place the Olympics need to be

First off, congratulations to our Canadian athletes for representing our country with amazing poise dignity and sportsmanship. Well done.
Now things turn to future games and lo & behold, the centre of the universe, Toronto, and some city councilors believe that they should be hosting the 2024 Summer games. They have even mentioned sharing the games with Buffalo, New York to offset the enormous cost of hosting the games. If you ask me, and some have, it's a terrible idea.
Let's get Buffalo's involvement out of the way first. That city can't keep road signs upright let alone host the world for the Summer Games. And what will there entertainment be for visitors and athletes... another fire in North Tonawanda. Buffalo, out!
Now, Toronto. There are so many arguments against them hosting the Olympics, I could get writer’s cramp. Besides the financial burden, the public transportation grid lock, the highway mess, the lack of space for new venues, the non use of those facilities once the games are done, the pressure to win on our athletes, the loss of other great festivals during those 2+weeks, the media scrutiny that would be constant for the organizers, the cost of everything that will go up for locals by businesses trying to cash in, the increased security that will have locals feeling like prisoners in their own city, etc.
Someone said to me last week that the world needs to see what a great city Toronto is. I said "if they saw the disrepair of the city's infrastructure and the utter chaos that the games would bring, they wouldn't even begin to see that Toronto is a great city because of the people that live there and make it so. Let them come and visit for the events, festivals, and attractions that happen all year round. Not for a 15 day mistake that will cost the city more than the few billions it would cost to put them on.
Let’s cheer on our athletes in 2024 as they compete in some other country that wants to (and can afford to) lose a ton of money.
